On the Road Again

The wind finally dropped and with it, the height of the seas. We left Bundaberg and motored the 9 miles down the Burnett River until we reached the sea.
We thought we had prepared the boat for the passage. It is somewhat like child proofing a house. You have to put away all the breakables and fix the cupboard doors so they don’t come flying open at the most in opportune time. Of course we forgot a couple things, like the pots and pans cupboard under the stove. When we healed over, the all came flying out. Luckily it was a low cupboard
so nobody lost an eye.It felt great to be on our way again. We had a beautiful 15 - 20 knots of wind behind us and we ran north for two days and a bit until we arrived at Scawfell Island. The first thing I did was jump in the beautiful blue water (after putting down the ladder of course). It was delightful. A couple hours later, Steve reminded me that we were now in “Stinger” territory (deadly poisonous jellyfish) and that we always have to wear our “Stinger Suits” (full length lycra suits so that the poisonous tentacles don’t touch your skin) whenever we go in the water. I will remember next time.
The next day we headed off to Brampton Island. In this area of the Queensland coast, there are hundreds and hundreds of islands so we don’t want to do anymore overnight sails for a while. It is no problem with our gps but we are always careful and if the gps died in the middle of the night, we would be up the creek trying to slalom through the islands and the reefs in the dark.
We arrived at Brampton Island just after lunch and went ashore for a hike along
the trails in the national park. After a while, we came upon 3 kangaroos standing on the trail, nibbling the greenery on either side of the path. One of the kangaroos seemed to have a small tail sticking out of its stomach, then the tail disappeared and a tiny head poked out of the kangaroos pouch. It was sooooo cute. After the kangaroos stared at us for a few minutes, they went on their way towards the beach and we continued along the trail back to Toboggan. After stopping the next night at Shaw Island, we continued on through the WhitSunday Islands and arrived at Cid Harbour for a night then on to Airlie
