Georgetown, at the edge, not on the edge.
Georgetown is the end of the line for many of the cruisers here. They will spend two months enjoying the sun, watersports, other activities and each others company. After which they will make the return trip home to summer weather. In the harbour around the town of Georgetown there are about 250 boats at anchor. The population of this transient water based town numbers about half that of actual Georgetown.
From here some boats probe out for a change in pace for a few days or a couple of weeks to smaller more remote islands. They return when supplies get low and stay for a while longer in Georgetown before working their way back north.
The cruising community in Georgetown is very organized with scheduled activities, announcements, and event planning committees. To encourage participation there are clinics to help people learn to play fun volleyball ( 9 people per side), bocce ball, and the card game bridge. It is quite impressive to see this seniors day camp operate with so smoothly.
Our staysail furler arrived in Annapolis on Friday for repair. Hopefully the turn around will be quick so we can be on our way. In the meantime we will continue to enjoy snorkeling on the reefs and trails through the island. For our anniversary we when snorkeling and invited a lobster back for lunch.
